To be sure, you'll complete plenty of side quests (some of them purely by accident), and the story will branch depending on your dialogue choices (and on what you did in Origins), but because of the way the narrative is laid out - primarily in flashbacks with an unreliable narrator - and because you spend a lot of time retreading the same levels and dungeons, you feel much more "on rails" than in other, truly wide-open RPGs.Īnother reason the game feels less free is, ironically, because it's so easy. This is helpful, because the scope of the action - in terms of level design - is actually narrower and more linear than it was in Origins. Have you found any other Easter Eggs in Dragon Age: Inquisition? Do you think the Mass Effect and Dragon Age universes are connected?ĭragon Age: Inquisition is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.And the game looks nice, too, with more colorful environments, more detail in character and enemy models, and a grander, more cinematic vibe.
The Krogan head will surely inspire wildly outlandish fan theories, but even if it's just a head on a mantle it made us laugh. Regardless of that, it's a fun treat to see BioWare make clever nods to their other popular franchises.
Kotaku also points out that Solus' role as a doctor/scientist in Mass Effect is the futuristic parallel for a healer, but again it could be a stretch. Basically, this mysterious healer uses short simple sentences that get right to the point, a trait that Solus also exhibited.
DRAGON AGE MASS EFFECT ARMOR SERIES
In Inquisition's Codex, gamers will notice a series of notes from a Healer who talks a little bit like Mordin Solus, one of the companions from the latter two Mass Effect games. Even so, it's worth mentioning since any connections are likely to be explored. The other Mass Effect Easter Eggs are a little less obvious, and at this point we're not sure if there's actually something to them. Mass Effect, for example, had DLC armor that was themed after Dragon Age. This isn't the first time the developer has done so in either franchise either, as both games have featured tie-in content themed around the other. While the Krogan head does stir up questions as to how a race from one series can end up in another, it's more likely that BioWare was simply nodding towards their other franchise. Said Krogan dome can be found in an Orlesian Mansion right next to the heads of a creepy wolf-like creature and what appears to be a bear. The first Easter Egg isn't terribly hard to miss, as it features a massive, decapitated Krogan head mounted on a wall. The Indoctrination Theory, on the other hand… Some have even gone so far as to suggest that these Easter Eggs' existence mean the two universes are connected, but we're not willing to buy into that theory just yet. It's a good thing too, because the game is apparently pretty good.īut even though gamers would rather not think of Mass Effect while playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare has sought fit to hide a few Easter Eggs for their fans and drum up a few conspiracy theories in the process. Despite some general disappointment with regards to Mass Effect 3's ending, most BioWare fans have been accepting of the developer's latest RPG, Dragon Age: Inquisition, with little resistance.
